COUNCILMEMBER PINTO INTRODUCES BILL TO WAIVE CITY FEES FOR THE CAPITAL PRIDE PARADE

Today, Councilmember Brooke Pinto introduced legislation to waive all city fees for the Capital Pride Parade, Festival, and Block Party, hosted each year by the Capital Pride Alliance. The Capital Pride Parade dates back to 1975 and is a cherished DC tradition that is emblematic of the District’s values. The “Support for the Capital Pride Parade Amendment Act of 2023” empowers the work of the Capital Pride Alliance and reaffirms DC’s commitment to celebrating the LGBTQQIA+ community and their history and culture.

“The Capital Pride Parade is one of our most cherished traditions and our Pride celebrations are a wonderful demonstration of what makes DC so special: our commitment to not only welcoming diversity, inclusivity, and equality, but also celebrating it” said Councilmember Pinto. “In a time when the rights and lives of LGBTQQIA+ Americans are under attack in so many corners of our country, we must, as the nation’s capital, counter those vile attacks by lifting up and celebrating our LGBTQQIA+ neighbors.”

The Support for the Capital Pride Parade Amendment Act of 2023 is co-introduced by Councilmembers Zachary Parker, Charles Allen, Kenyan McDuffie, Vincent Gray, Robert White, and Janeese Lewis George.
